Recently I read somewhere that moms are becoming more influential in the virtual world both from a consumer as well as a social networking point of view. Apparently the majority of moms are not only online shopping savvy but also turn to other moms on networking sites for advice before making their purchases.
I'm not surprised as the Internet kept me sane during those first few crazy and clueless months as a new parent while I was on maternity leave. I turned to mummy forums and parenting sites for advice on almost everything - in fact, more than to my own mom and mom-in-law! The forum mummies and facebook were also my constant companions and kept me in touch with the real and adult world beyond diapers and poop. Thank God for social networking sites! How could people have survived without them? How did I?!
